Miruna Bianca Crișan, PhD candidate, presented on Friday, September 5th, 2025, within the EABCT 2025 – European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies Congress, held at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow (3–6 September 2025) the meta-analysis “Group Interventions for Social Anxiety in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Their Efficacy, Moderators, and Mechanisms of Change”.

The 55th edition of EABCT brought together researchers and clinicians from across Europe and beyond, highlighting cutting-edge developments in CBT research and practice. The congress theme, “People Make Glasgow: Connections Drive Change,” emphasized the importance of scientific and human connections in advancing evidence-based psychological interventions.

The meta-analysis synthesizes evidence from randomized controlled trials examining the efficacy of group-based CBT interventions for social anxiety disorder in children and adolescents, while also exploring potential moderators and reported mechanisms of change. Preliminary findings indicate large effects of group CBT compared to waitlist control conditions, particularly for clinician-rated and self-reported outcomes. The analysis also reveals substantial heterogeneity, underscoring the need for future studies focusing on moderators and mechanisms to better understand when and for whom group CBT is most effective.

Through this contribution, the research reinforces the commitment to advancing evidence-based psychological interventions and strengthening international collaborations in cognitive-behavioural therapy. We congratulate Miruna for her involvement!
